Estate planning is often a difficult, but necessary, subject to discuss. At the Law Office of Allison Gaffen, we carefully consider the sensitive and unique nature of each individual’s circumstances. We pride ourselves on listening closely to the client’s needs and working with them to create the best plan possible.
The estate needs of each individual and family vary. We will work hard to guide you through this process and make sure all of your wishes and interests are planned for and addressed. We value open communication with our clients and a fast response to their needs. Our firm policy is to return client calls and emails promptly and always within 24 hours.
Who needs an estate plan?
Typically, two groups of people need an estate plan:
1) People with property of value (sentimental or otherwise) that they care about and they want that property to go to a specific person or organization.
2) People with minor children.
In an estate plan, you can nominate a person (called a personal guardian) to raise your child in the event of death of both parents before the child turns 18 years of age. A successor personal guardian should also be named, in the event that the personal guardian is unable to serve.
An estate plan can also address who will manage any property left to the child.
We provide services in the following areas:
· Powers of Attorney
· Advance Healthcare Directive (Living Will)
